Universitas Gadjah Mada was officially established on December 19, 1949, as a national university. Considered as one of the oldest universities in Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada serves as a pillar of educational awakening in Indonesia, and purports to be a defender and disseminator of Pancasila. When it was founded, Universitas Gadjah Mada only had six faculties. Now, Universitas Gadjah Mada has 18 Faculties, one Postgraduate School (S-2 and S-3), and one Vocational School. Universitas Gadjah Mada is one of the oldest universities in Indonesia, located at the Bulaksumur Yogyakarta Campus. Most of the faculties in the Universitas Gadjah Mada consist of several departments and study programs. The academic activities of Universitas Gadjah Mada are expressed in the form of the cornerstones of Tri Dharma higher educational values, consisting of Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UGM\u2019s role in the CATA-Earth Project<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) plays an active role in the CATA\u2013EARTH project. In UGM, this project is running under the Center for Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (CTM FMPHN UGM), contributing its multidisciplinary expertise in education, research, and community engagement to advance planetary and environmental health. CTM UGM is a research center comprising experts, researchers, medical professionals, and public health practitioners who are passionate about addressing health issues related to tropical diseases. This center emphasized the importance of transdisciplinary teamwork and intersectoral collaborations for achieving integrated and sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


As a co-leader in work packages of train-the-trainer and knowledge management, UGM helps strengthen regional capacity in planetary health education. The university collaborates with and leads the development of a community-driven education toolkit, supports curriculum implementation, and manages the project\u2019s knowledge repository to ensure sustainability and facilitate data sharing. Collaborating with Pamerti Kali Code, a community group along the Kali Code River in Yogyakarta, UGM connects academic learning with real-world initiatives that promote sustainable and resilient urban environments. Through these contributions, UGM fosters collaboration between academia and local communities, building a foundation for evidence-based and locally relevant planetary health education in Indonesia and across Asia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
