CATA-Earth collaborated with the Health Sciences Cluster of Universitas Indonesia in the IPE (Interprofessional Education) Module, bringing together students from five faculties, such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health, and Pharmacy to make a group project about Planetary Health together.
We invited our community partners, YHHI (Youth Health Hub Indonesia) and YKB (Yayasan Kusuma Buana), to serve as facilitators for the IPE Module Group Project Collaboration, which involved 47 student participants. The program aimed to provide students with valuable insights into real-world planetary health challenges, particularly waste management issues in Jakarta, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among students from different faculties. This experience served as a simulation of how diverse health professionals work together to address complex planetary health issues. Through this collaborative learning process, we hope to empower future health professionals to think critically, act sustainably, and contribute meaningfully to the health of both people and the planet.
The first meeting of CATA-Earth UI and our Community Partners (YHHI and YKB) with the students of UI’s IPE Module took place on March 11th 2026 through the Zoom meeting. During the session, representatives from YHHI and YKB introduced their respective organizations and presented the scope of their programs, providing students with an overview of health challenges addressed by each organization.

Based on the initial meeting above, the students of the University of Indonesia’s IPE Module were divided into two groups, each assigned to collaborate with one of CATA-Earth UI’s community partners to develop a group project. The group partnered with YKB implemented a project focusing on sexual violence, entitled “Speak in Silence.” The initiative served as both a safe space and an awareness platform aimed at breaking the silence surrounding sexual violence. Through this project, the students aimed to educate, empower, and foster a supportive environment where individuals could learn, reflect, and raise awareness regarding sexual violence, emphasizing that silence does not necessarily indicate the absence of abuse. The team established an Instagram account, @speakinsilence.id, which featured educational content on topics such as the definition and types of sexual violence, the impact of sexual violence on survivors, legal consequences for perpetrators, and strategies for preventing sexual violence.

Meanwhile, The group partnered with YHHI implemented a project focusing on waste management, particularly plastic waste, entitled “ECO-CENTRIC, Less Plastic, More Fantastic”. The students developed an educational e-booklet on sustainable waste management and created educational infographic posts on the same topic, which were published on CATA-Earth’s Instagram account. The e-booklet contained educational materials on various aspects of waste management, such as definition and types of waste, the environmental impacts of improper waste disposal, waste management strategies, the problems associated with open dumping, 3R programs (reduce, reuse, recycle), the role of students in waste management, and tutorials on creating useful products from waste materials.
